John Peterson is a senior associate attorney in the San Francisco bay area office. He focuses on the defense of workers’ compensation claims on behalf of employers, carriers, and third-party administrators. John is known for his responsiveness, and out of the box approach to timely resolving complex and high value cases in a timely and efficient manner.
John was admitted to the State Bar of California in 1998. Since 2001, John has focused his career in workers’ compensation defense working for statewide defense law firms and in house for AIG and State Fund. At AIG he was Senior Trial Counsel for their in-house workers compensation offices in California. Being only one of two attorneys in this role, John was responsible for defending the highest value and most complex cases, including asbestos and traditional death claims.
John graduated from Sacramento State University in 1993, Magna Cum Laude. He obtained his Juris Doctor degree from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law.
Traditional and complex workers’ compensation claims, asbestos related claims, defense of Labor Code § 132a and Labor Code § 4553 actions, subrogation and other credit issues, and developing evidence of claimant fraud for multiple jurisdiction applicability.
