Bio

Ray Stanek is the Partner in the East Bay area office, having joined Albert and Mackenzie in 2010. He has extensive experience in civil and workers' compensation law having specialized in this area since 1992. Ray’s focus, dedication and work ethic set him apart in the pursuit of outstanding client outcomes. His expertise encompasses all aspects of workers' compensation, including witness depositions, doctor depositions and trials. In addition, Ray handles civil claims, such as subrogation matters, the defense of discrimination claims under Labor Code section 132a and Serious and Willful Misconduct claims under Labor Code section 4553. Amongst his accomplishments, he has been successful in obtaining several “take nothings” at trial, and has been able to obtain a granting of reconsideration that overturned a 100% decision in 2013.

Admitted to the California Bar in 1990, Ray worked for Grancell, Stander, et al. from 1997 through 1998, and became in-house counsel for Zenith with Chernow and Lieb from 1998 through 2010. While at Zenith, he was singled out to participate in an innovative Trial Initiative Program which identified cases with extraordinary issues to take to trial utilizing enhanced discovery techniques.

Ray graduated from the University of South Dakota in 1985 where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Educational Psychology. He earned his Juris Doctor degree from Western State University School of Law in 1990. While at Western State University, he participated in Moot Court competitions and was awarded the Roger Traynor Award for submitting the best brief.
